OUR
STORY
Little Cedar began its humble journey in the summer of 2004. It started as a preschool in the Cedar Cottage neighbourhood and has also grown into an out-of-school care center. We now host over 100 children in 4 different programs and two locations.
Our preschool adheres to the philosophy of Maria Montessori. Our school-age program incorporates various outdoor activities, field trips, arts & crafts while always keeping the child’s best interest in mind and allowing for hands-on, experiential learning. Get in touch to learn more!
Montessori Preschool Program
The various stages of development from ages two through six often overlap and are not always clearly defined. Furthermore, children differ in their development. As such our curriculum is designed to be flexible and dynamic in how the teachers present the materials to the children. Some children, for example, may focus on one area of development such as movement or speech, reading or writing and may not move on to other interests until they feel confident they have mastered that skill. There are eight areas within our classroom that allow the children to experiment with new skills and master other skills they have already developed. Questions: teachers@littlecedar.ca
School Age Program
We offer both Full Time or Part Time placements for families that needs before and / or after school care. The school age program includes professional development days, early dismissals and district closures. For more information please email us at schoolagecare@littlecedar.ca
